These services are often carried out within the context of our strategic advice, especially where a major strategic review is conducted. However, they can also be provided on a stand-alone basis.

Structures for firm-wide governance

This includes the definition of roles, responsibilities and the decision-making processes. A critical issue is to ensure that the structure will facilitate the implementation of your firm's overall strategy.

Operational structures

Beneath the level of firm-wide governance lies the need to organise the firm into effective business units, where fee earners are grouped to provide the most effective means of delivering your overall strategy. These business units might be practice areas, locations, client groups, industry groups or a combination of some or all of these. This process includes devising roles and responsibilities necessary for the management of groups and their links into the rest of the organisation.

Implementation issues

There are a significant number of processes required to ensure that a firm's strategy can be effectively implemented. While these may be secondary in that they follow from the activities discussed above, they are also critical aspects of implementing major change within your firm. Important processes here include performance management, people management, performance reviews/appraisals, remuneration, client relationship and marketing management. A particular area of our expertise is in developing processes that ensure the various activities being undertaken throughout your firm are closely aligned with your overall strategy.
